Tonight at the City of Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission meeting at 6:30pm at City Hall the new Dallas Cowboys Training Facility and Headquarters area will be discussed. The 91.6+ acres on the northwest Corner of Warren Parkway will be a Multi-Use Event Center with not only the Cowboys but office space, a hotel, restaurant and multi-use event center development.

Current plans look like around 8 stand alone pad sites for restaurants and also around 7 parking garages. Some even 7 levels high.

I would be in attendance tonight if it wasn’t for the first Richwoods HOA meeting tonight. But I will have someone there to report back on what took place.

Regardless, it’s still exciting!

Dallas Cowboys Excitement Grows in Frisco

Since the small commercial strip center called Hall Park Pavilion opened on Warren Parkway and the Dallas North Tollway in 2006, Subway, Gazebo Burger, Paul Rubin’s Childrens Dentistry and other establishments have seen the Frisco area grow.

But nothing like this!

Now, across the street from the retail center the acres of flat open space has a new blue sign that reads: “Future Home of the Cowboys World Headquarters & Training Facility.”

THE DALLAS COWBOYS ARE COMING TO TOWN!

America’s Team announced its plans for a $115 million deal to develop 91 acres owned by the Frisco Community Development Corporation.

Though businesses and residents are enthusiastic, some have expressed concern about increased traffic. Plans are to open the practice facility for the 2016 season.

In addition to a 12,000-seat indoor stadium and office space, 66 acres will be sold to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ Blue Star companies for private development. Other businesses within the private development are expected to include high-end sports retail, restaurants and a luxury hotel.

Stonebriar Centre Mall might be the only other opening that was more anticipated or possibly the Richwoods Development on the East side of Frisco.

Anytime Frisco grows, it’s positive for the mall and other big residential communities like Richwoods, Lawler Park and Liberty Crossing.

When the Frisco Community Development Corp. bought the parcel in 2010, city manager George Purefoy mentioned it would be a prime spot for a children’s amusement park. It was also considered as a possible home for a movie and production studio.

The city of Frisco also tried to lure the Nebraska Furniture Mart to the open up the acreage, but the retailer decided to build in The Colony instead.

But honestly, who would choose a furniture store over the Dallas Cowboys?!? Around the facility there should be close to three times the retailers of the Shops of Legacy in Plano.

I have already shown one Dallas Cowboy through some Toll Brothers homes in Richwoods and I am sure he is not the last. I have also had a Cowboy inquire about Phillips Creek Ranch, so they are definitely looking.

And the fact that this guy will be seen around town won’t hurt the JJ spotting a on FaceBook either.

INTRODUCING the New Dallas Cowboys Training Facility Concept in Frisco, Texas

Dallas Cowboys Training Facility in Frisco

The Dallas Cowboys are moving to Frisco, Texas in the Fall of 2016 and plan to build a Domed Training Facility like the Concept above.

The Dallas Cowboys new Indoor Training Facility in Frisco, Texas plans to seat a minimum of 12,000 fans for games. The practice facility will also be a multi-use facility that can be refigured to accommodate 22,000 seats for other events like concerts.

Current plans are that the Frisco ISD will have use of the facility on Thursday and Friday evenings for football games. As the first school district in the state with an indoor stadium, it will also be an attractive destination for “Blue Star Stadium” to host potential Texas playoff games as well.

The Dallas Cowboys, meanwhile, will once again have an indoor facility for practice in inclement or freezing weather. Surprisingly, the Dallas Cowboys mentioned that the Frisco Independent School District will have first use of the facility when there is a need.

There are currently six schools in the Frisco ISD as of today. A seventh will be added in 2014 called Independence High School and an eight in 2015 in West Frisco called Reddy High School. The district uses two stadiums currently for the Frisco high school games at the moment which are Frisco ISD Memorial Stadium and the FC Dallas Stadium.

But this actually makes sense.

Instead of the school district building a new stadium to accommodate the addition of Independence and Reddy high School, Frisco ISD officials decided it was best to enter a joint venture with the Dallas Cowboys. (Duh!) It will be similar to the district’s arrangement with FC Dallas. The new Dallas Cowboys Training facility will include all the bells and whistles that come with a Texas high school football stadium, including locker rooms and a scoreboard.

Above is another concept plan that was included in the economic impact report done for the Frisco Economic Development Corporation on the Cowboys project. The plans are not set in stone.

As shown on the plan, the sports complex is parcels 1 & 2, the corporate headquarters will be parcel 6, and the mixed use development is parcels 3-5 and 7-9.

Sorry Allen High School, Frisco has the Dallas Cowboys!
