Omni Frisco at The Star Review as the First Guests!

Omni Frisco at The Star Jax Holden was the first guest at the Frisco Omni at The Star.

My four year old loves hotels, so I surprised him, his brother and their mom by staying the first night the Omni Frisco at The Star opened on July 24th, 2017.

We arrived to 5 valet drivers on the East side of the building. As we walked in, a lady bent down to Jax and gave him the “Omni Kids Crew” backpack above with a lot of kid activities inside.

Check in was not until 1:00pm, so the Omni stored our luggage and we decided to eat lunch at Neighborhood Services Frisco which is on the first floor and acts as the Omni Hotels room service.

Neighborhood Services Frisco is an American food restaurant by chef Nick Badovinus.  This is the 4th location in DFW.

The restaurant features his signature self-described fare, “honest food & drink in the American tradition.”  This has many nice touches to highlight the Dallas Cowboys in the decor.

At our booth, there was a makeshift locker with Staubach, Dorsett and Randy White uniforms and memorabilia.

They also incorporate the rustic Texas feel with ropes, hats and other western ware items.

Lunch Menu at Neighborhood Services offers a large lunch menu but is also pricey. (Which is understandable.)

Neighborhood Services offers both indoor and outdoor dining that is accessible from the hotel or street. You’ll experience a refined and modern rustic design paired with upscale comfort food.

THE ROOM

We had a corner suite and a connecting double queen room for the boys. Rooms were ultra modern and had a great touch of the Cowboys and comfort throughout.

Definitely a two thumbs up! 👍🏻 👍🏻

Get out to the Star! Omni and Jerry Jones did it right!

Dallas Cowboys Defensive End Pass Rushers have dubbed themselves the “Hot Boys”

After the Dallas Cowboys Hot Boys first day of camp in Oxnard, California for the 2018 season, Taco Charlton spoke to David Helman with the Dallas Cowboys media and said the pass rushers have dubbed themselves the “Hot Boys!”

“So right now it’s still an argument. As we battle through camp, we battle through names, too. We’ve also got to do it by age. So the young ones can compete for Wayne, and the older guys like Ty – he can be Mannie Fresh. He’s the OG. Or he could be Baby. He’s in control. He’s the captain of the D-Line, he runs everything. He and D – Law can be the top two, they are the oldest ones and have been here the longest. We will definitely have our names by the end of camp.”

– Taco Charlton

Demarcus wanted me to add Jihad Ward on this one.

I will tell you one thing. Those dude on the Source Magazine Cover can call themselves the “Hot Boys” or whatever they want because they are going to Dominate this season.

Go Cowboys!

Review: Cole Beasley of the Dallas Cowboys Release Party at Lava Cantina

Cole Beasley Release Party at Lava Cantina

Last Saturday, Cole Beasley wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys hosted a public album release party at Lava Cantina in The Colony for his album titled The Autobiography. The Autobiography Cole BeasleyToo say Cole has Cowboys support is extremely an understatement!

7:35pm – I made way upstairs the stunning two story entry consisting of a large mural of long chains and artists on my right and was greeted by security and a metal detector at the top. I have been to Lava Cantina many times before and knew that it’s about to get real!

The rooftop was buzzing with the Cowboys DJSC on the ones and twos! I stopped to take a look and chat with a manager of Lava Cantina before finding my buddies and our table. I first noticed a 6 foot 4 beast of a guy named Travis Frederick in line for a tasty beverage. But honestly, the place was already packed! The entire rooftop was filled with almost the full roster along with “a sweet 16 girls birthday party” (the luckiest 16 year old on the planet due to Coles Release party falling on the exact date they planned almost two months ago!) They were all freaking out with selfies and instas and snaps.

Already in their spots at a couple tables I initially spotted former Cowboys Mo Claibourne and Brandon Carr. Nearby were some of the big guys Joe Looney, Chaz Green and Travis Frederick.

Beside the tables standing Rod Smith, Jeff Heath, Alfred Morris and Ezekiel Elliott were discussing it looks like, Zekes nose ring.

8:15pm – The sun set and we heard drumming like from a drum line coming from the stage. It turned out to be the Colony High School Marching Band that walked on stage to get the crowd roaring! Ben and Skin and Jeff Cavanaugh from 105.3 the Fan grabbed the mic to introduce Cole Beasley and his producer Victor “Phazz” Clark. He spoke about how they have formed Cold Nations Records and were blown away by the turnout!”

The owner of Lava Cantina Ian Vaughn was also on the stage giving out some cool light up styrofoam sticks which was a very nice touch!

Cole Beasley Release Party

#11 said that he was going to start playing his album and appreciate all the love and support his family, friends and fans have been pouring on him in his rap game journey.

8:30 – De$tani – the up and coming 16 year old singer that is on a couple of Coles tracks sang two songs to show her vocal skills.

After that the party went right back up to the rooftop. More players arrived like Terrance Williams, Jourdan Louis, Rod Smith, David Irving, Cooper Rush, Kavon Frazier, Anthony Brown to smile and hug the Sauce.

I have known Alfred Morris for a while and I was pleading him to stay here to play for the Cowboys but he just really wants to play, he said! I also told him that his family’s part on All or Nothing was really edited well and his wife said that they haven’t even watched it but have been hearing that a lot!

There was a FC Dallas game earlier against LA Galaxy so I’m sure Dak Prescott wanted FC Dallas to pull out the victory 3-2.

#CowboysNation listen up: This event gives me a very good idea of how tight knit this team is which is needed to succeed in the NFL. You can tell they enjoy each others company. T – Will is ready to come out and ball out this next season. All smiles, all night.

11:15pm – I look up at Roosevelt (Jerry Jones security guard) and he is leading someone in. Other than Jerry, who else would Rosie really need to be helping get through the crowd? He goes by the name of Desmond Bryant!

Dez came in the only way he knows how, with that big smile and hugs to everyone. What a true friend in the strangest situation he is in, to show up and support his boy! Big Props for that Dez!!!

Even his team is pushing his product all over the world for him!

Overall, the Cole Beasley Release Party at Lava Cantina was a very memorable night for Cole, his family and every bit of CowboysNation.

He handles himself well and made the best effort to talk to everyone on his new journey. He has a family and kids and I have heard he’s a pretty good dad. Cole, you threw a great release that everyone will remember. It was a perfect venue at Lava Cantina . And as always, made it a little saucy.

Cole and Roosevelt were chatting close by so I asked them,Hey, when is Jerry showing up? Should I be looking up for his chopper? And they both looked, smiled and Cole immediately answered, “Nah, Jerry isn’t going to show up tonight!”

I settled my bill and turned around to the sack leader DeMarcus Lawrence walking right at me. He gave me the bro hug and asked where Beasley was, I told him around this corner in the big chair with Dez.

Towards the end of the night Cole had an entourage of three SUVs pick them up and the security was every which way you looked. Very, very well done Lava Cantina and Dallas Cowboys!

The Star at Frisco Entertainment District Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Press Conference

Frisco, Texas – The Star at Frisco had its much anticipated Entertainment District Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting.

Jerry Jones and Mayor Jeff Cheney

The Jones Family, Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney and current business owners of The Star were at the press conference to open the three day grand opening celebration.

Brad Sham, the voice of the Dallas Cowboys, emceed the press conference with Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney starting things off.

“The Star Entertainment District was supposed to be built in 4 phases, but there was so much demand once the project was announced they decided to build the entire retail component in one phase, all at once.” He continued stating, “It’s all leased up, everyone’s doing great, all the restaurants are full, and so it’s turned out to be more than we have ever imagined.”

Jerry Jones took front and center later and stole the show with his “Jerry-isms”.

Starting things off, Jerry started with, “Twenty two years ago, about a block away, I built Starwood. I never dreamed in my lifetime that you would see commercial activity at this location.”

He said that his daughter Charlotte and sons Jerry Jr. and Stephen were the driving forces to convince him to create The Star. Also mentioning $700 million dollars has already been spent to date.

Behind the Podium the sculpture called the Huddle was the feel good story of the press conference.

Jerry called Gene up on stage where she told the story of how her daughter, Charlotte Jones Anderson and herself were in Orlando, Florida and came across “the Huddle” sculpture in the middle of a table at an art show.  They liked the fact that the huddle reminded them of little boys playing football in a field.

The artist, Tom Friedman, mentioned that he could make the nine person huddle any size. Little did he know what Texas-sized structure would be in the works!

The Entertainment District is truly a gem for both Frisco and the Dallas Cowboys!

Dallas Cowboys in Frisco at their annual Reliant Home Run Derby.

The Dallas Cowboys participated in their sixth annual Reliant Home Run Derby held in Frisco, Texas at the Dr.Pepper Ballpark last Monday.  They raised $50,000 for the Salvation Army. Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Garrett, came away as the winner for the second time only raising $100 more than Jason Witten.

The event started at 5:30pm and tickets were only $5.00!  Absolutely an amazing opportunity for families to bring their kids to be up close with the Dallas Cowboys.

Many of the players brought their kids with them like Tyron Smith

Rowdy made an appearance and threw out the first pitch.

The players were getting ready for introductions in the dug out.

Here are a couple videos highlighting the event:

Participants included Dak Prescott, Jason Witten, Ezekiel Elliott, Byron Jones, Jason Garrett, Orlando Scandrick,  Travis Frederick, Tyron Smith, Zack Martin and Jeff Heath.  Dez Bryant showed up towards the end because he went to the wrong stadium.

Dak Prescott had to have baseball in his background because he can crush the ball!

Dez and Dez Jr. race to say their hellos to Dak Prescott.

After the derby, Byron Jones, Coach Jason Garrett, Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott try out their skills in the infield.

They are already halfway done with the Star as of a couple weeks ago. And I will tell you, It is bigger than you think.  Stephen said that it is around 700,000 square feet and to put that in comparison, Texas Stadium was only 900,000 square feet!

Tony Romo roots for Wisconsin tonight at the Final Four at ATT Center in Arlington tonight!

20140405-210631.jpg

Tony Romo is known as a big college basketball fan. And since the Final Four is being played in his Stadium he showed up tonight rooting for Wisconsin with a Badger Hoodie on!

That should come as no real surprise since Romo grew up in Burlington, Wis., a 90-minute drive from Madison.

But it still looks weird!

Dallas Cowboys Gavin Escobar and Jeff Heath at iFly in Frisco Today!

20140224-214356.jpg

Today Dallas Cowboys Rookies Gavin Escobar (TE) and Jeff Heath (SS) were trying out iFly in Frisco. With the move to Frisco most likely in 2015, they were here taking a couple flights and scouting out the area. And luckily I had both of my boys Jake & Jax with me to snap a pic!

20140225-230601.jpg

Gavin Escobar was selected in the second round out of San Diego State and proved to be a great addition to Jason Whitten and James Hanna. He has fantastic hands and is HUGE! 6-4 or 6-5 I think.

20140224-214806.jpg

Jeff Heath wasn’t chosen in the draft but picked up immediately after by the Cowboys and played nearly every game due to JJ Wilcox being injured early and was very dependable throughout the season.

But the real question is, what new community in Frisco suits them best.

Young and in their early 20’s, I would say Park Place in Frisco. Great location, high-end finish out and very close to the new Cowboys Training Facility.

20140224-215155.jpg

Keep a look out for more Dallas Cowboys around town like Gavin Escobar and Jeff Heath in the near future.
